About the PTO

What is the PTO?

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a partnership between parents and educators who strive to enhance student learning and enrich the lives of the students within Satchel Ford Elementary School. It is also a forum for parents to obtain knowledge and voice their opinions about what is happening in their school.

Satchel Ford has an excellent teaching staff and learning environment. We also have an active and committed PTO. As a community, we create a stimulating and successful school for our children.

The PTO is an integral part of the school, and we welcome your involvement. This school is what it is today in part because of the dedication of parents. The PTO provides funding to bring a science lab instructor to the school, and it provides grant support for our dance program. In addition, our PTO built and maintains the school gardens and chicken coop for The Farm at Satchel Ford.

Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit organization.

What is the purpose of the PTO?

  • Support and promote the educational programs at the school.

  • Work cooperatively with the community, educators, parents, and children to enrich the educational standards of the school.

  • Assist in providing an educational climate that will enrich the lives of the students.

What does the PTO do?

  • Keeps you informed: The PTO creates and distributes the PTO eNews, a weekly email containing important information about upcoming activities, event highlights, and school news. The PTO eNews is distributed weekly via email to inform parents about additional school and district news. The PTO produces a Braves Bulletin each month to share updates and highlight student work and programs. Our FacebookTwitter, and Instagram pages are also excellent sources of information.

  • Makes school fun! Funds raised by the PTO go towards quality Brave Arts programs, classroom and playground enhancements, community outreach, and social events not included in the district-wide budget.

  • Brings people together: Meet the Teacher night, Freaky Friday, parent-child events, and VIP Day promote a sense of community among students, parents, and teachers.

How can I support the Satchel Ford PTO?

  • Lend a hand: There are countless volunteer opportunities at Satchel Ford, whether you have a lot of time to give, or just a little. Consider joining a particular committee or become a “volunteer at large” and participate when your schedule allows.

  • Make a donation: As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, the PTO relies on donations to support its activities and programs. Consider joining the PTO and making a contribution or becoming a business partner. Your support is critical to our success and allows us to continue to build on our track record of providing educational programs to enhance your child’s experience at Satchel Ford.
